Hello Everyone,
My brother sent me an email the other day asking me to attend a seminar on swiftlet farming by Azizi Ali who is a local property market guru. http://www.millionairesplanet.com/swiftlets.htm

Apparently, this is a very lucrative business & he promises that a swiftlet farmer has the potential of becoming a milionaire in 3 years.

The next seminar is sometime next month & costs 400+ bucks to attend. I don't mind the price if it can make me a millionaire in 3 years.

What is your take on this business?

Thank you for your comments.

Bird's nest soup eh? Is there any scientific evidence to show that this stuff is really good for our health?

Yes, I'm also aware of this seminar. They had one last month & I was invited. I have a friend who is an experienced swiftlet farmer in Kuantan. The salient points I got from her regarding this business is as follows:-

1. This is a very lucrative business. It is very possible to become a millionaire in 3 years with just 1 farm.

2. The start up cost is very expensive because there are very few suppliers / contractors / consultants in the market & they all charge exorbitant rates.

3. You need to have your own shoplot in an isolated location where the public will not complain about the polution. Some town councils issue licences for this business & they have certain guidelines for you to follow.

4. Don't even think of renting a shoplot. Your landlord can become greedy & kick you out or raise the rent once your farm becomes succesful.

5. The price of 1kg of birds nest can range from $2k - $4k depending on the quality. This is more expensive than ganja(cannabis)!

6. Your shoplot needs to be in the flight path of the birds. The easiest way to identify the flight path of the birds is to open your farm next to an existing one! Another way to 'test the market' is to play the bird sounds from your car stereo in a place which you suspect is the flight path of the birds. If the birds hear you, they will hover over your car Smile

7. You need to have some construction / renovation expertise in order to build your 'bird hotel' cheaply. If you engage renovation contractors, they will charge an exorbitant fee.

I would suggest that you attend this seminar & network with like minded people there. Who knows, you might meet some trustable partners there & form some sort of joint venture.

Good Luck.

thanks Chris and RR, I really like reading about these 'alternative' investment strategies ie. swiftlets and growers schemes.

I believe nowadays, for really profitable investments, one need to go 'off the beaten path' as the usual investment avenues are already full with eager individuals, so investment gems are much harder to find.

What if I told you that it can give you stronger and longer lasting erections? Kuching jadi harimau, hari hari mau Smile

On a more serious note, Chris, there are some shoplots in Bandar Country Homes, Rawang which have been converted to swiftlet farms. You might want to check it out.

hehe, scientific evidence is irrelevant probably, considering it's been used for hundreds if not thousands of years in Chinese medicine, and more importantly considering the no. of Chinese people and the diaspora.

Significant rise in spending power = demand!

Nice. 98sen psf = RM88k for the 2 acres.
Not bad, and Bank Pertanian readily gives out loans for agri land up to 200k IIRC.

Yes indeed the price of the property will increase more that 4 times if there r bird nests inside. A kampong area shop lot that cost 100k easily could sell for 500k if the shop has bird nests inside. Swiftlet farming is a multi million dollar business best of all its only available in south east asia.

its possible to make a million in a year. When you visit http://www.swiftletfarmer.blogspot.com u will see how these guys invest millions on this business. if they could do this it mean this business is lucrative.

Best of all passive income!

Regards Razz
